The weather in the south is always back and forth during the winter months. We can be under a winter advisory one day and the next its 65 degrees. One reason for so many people having colds during the season. As much as I would love to fill my closet with a crazy amount of winter clothing, the majority of my wardrobe is for summer, spring, and fall. It honestly doesn’t make sense to purchase a ton of coats, boots, and other items that you may wear twice. Don’t get me wrong; I live for a cute pair of otk boots. But, do I need twenty pairs? No. My two go-to items right now are my Faux Leather Moto Jacket and Fedora Hat.
With my outfit above, this is one of my usual picks during the winter months. It’s a cute t-shirt that I can pair with jeans and add this faux leather moto jacket to fit for the season with a pair of my favorite booties. If it’s one of those random days where the temperature reaches 70 degrees, I can quickly remove the faux leather moto jacket and still be comfortable. I’ve been going back and forth with this hat for honestly over a year trying to decide when to wear it. Every time I put an outfit together it could be good for, I either recently got my hair done and didn’t want to put a hat on it or the weather didn’t call for it. Luckily, I finally found a day where both excuses were out the window. I have been sick and desperately need to get a hair wash/visit the salon, and the weather was perfect for a cute hat. I’ll take it as a significant win. I’ve linked above and below my outfit details, and you can shop the exact look which some of the items are on sale right now. Our weather is in the upper 60s the next week or so, I’m hoping it stays this way, and that means an early spring. I’ve already started shopping for a few pieces that will make great transitional pieces from winter to spring just in case we do have another crazy winter snow day.
I love Target just as much as you all probably do. Let’s not even talk about how you go in for one time and leave with 30 other things. This is ALWAYS my problem. I have given up going to Target with a set list. It NEVER works. I swear they put a spell on us or something when you walk in haha it’s crazy. If you’re a Target fan like myself, you’ve seen their new line, A New Day. The pieces in this collection are so modern and perfect for wherever your day takes you. They have pieces that can convert to anything. Starting your day with a meeting and ending with dinner friends, or wanting to take the more casual vibe for the day and dress it up later that night. The slogan for this line is “Style That Goes Wherever You Do” and that is true.
This tie neck dress dress I picked up at our local Target a few weeks ago, and it’s completely sold out online except plus size which you can find here. If you visit your local store, they may still have some. I recently wore this tie neck dress to a dinner, and it was a hit. I then wore it to church and paired it with flats. This tie neck dress was so cute both ways and love pieces that are convertible. For example, some dresses look horrible with flats, but this tie neck dress kept it’s the same look both ways. The look above I paired with these super cute booties that I got from DSW and this bag that I have worn a million times since I bought it from ASOS. The bag is currently on sale so if you’re looking for a new Fall staple this is it.
In a recent post, I ‘ve spoken about stepping out of my comfort zone wearing black all the time, and I must say it’s been fun! I swear colors just make your mood 10x better.
You can view the pieces and shop Target’s new line, A New Day here.
Happy Monday! I can’t believe summer is almost over. My birthday came and went so quick, and now it’s almost October. I made some really exciting goals for myself for my birthday and can’t wait to see them unfold. Does anyone else feel like the birthday is your “new years”? You don’t have to wait until December 31st to make new goals or plans. Whatever is on your heart, write it down and make it happen. One thing I know I want to do is step out of my comfort zone with some of my clothing pieces. There are a few outfits I’ve seen and thought I couldn’t wear it but if you don’t step out of your comfort zone, you’ll never do anything. In the previous post, I’ve been mentioned black has been one of my favorite colors and the go-to piece. I am now adding in as much color as possible to my wardrobe because why not? Color brings happiness and makes your mood so much better.
Like this dress. Such a fun piece I found that I thought was a great transition piece from summer to fall. It has all of the cute fall colors but can be worn without a jacket to get the last touches of summer. I paired this dress with theseheels and felt so empowered. I’m not sure what it is but heels make you feel like you can walk into the boardroom and conquer everything you came for plus more. It felt so good wearing these because I probably wore heels once during pregnancy and not wearing them for awhile throws you off. It took a bit of practice at home to get comfortable before this shoot. #truestory
In the end, it all worked out, and I love how this outfit came together. Plus, I didn’t fall on my face! That is always a win. Have a great week everyone!
Here’s to another year of growing older but also growing wiser. Another year to make mistakes, but also fix those mistakes. Another year of blessings, another year of happiness. Another year of travel, another year of love. Birthdays aren’t just a celebration to receive gifts; it’s a statement of how blessed you are to even be at this point. I can honestly look back on each year of my life and reflect on at least one major moment I had to happen to me and one moment where I laughed so hard I probably peed my pants. Then, there was that incredible moment that I became a mom. Significant milestones like that are my reasons for going each day.
When you start to figure out your why and following your dreams, life becomes seamless. You don’t dread another Monday work day or another day trying to figure out what exactly your calling is. I’d rather not know than be forced to do something every day of my life that I hate. As I have grown over the years, I have experienced my share of losses but also some major wins. The wins always outweigh the losses, and I can thank God for teaching me and helping me see that.
I’m so so thankful for everything I have achieved thus far, the relationships I’ve gained, the relationships I’ve lost, the wins, the losses, the yes, and the no’s. Each year you get the opportunity to make your mark. So, on this day, I pledge to do whatever it is that I want to do the way I want to do it. Living every day as a celebration of the blessings to come. I am so thankful and blessed for the support system I have and the opportunities to make every thing I have ever wanted happen. So, again, another year older, another year wiser, and another year I am thankful to be here.

On-Demand hairstyling at home is becoming the must have thing. I wanted to try it out myself to see if it really lives up to the hype. When the team from COLOUR approached me, I wasn’t new to the on-demand beauty apps. Living in Texas, there were a ton of them so I’ve always thought they were cool but never got around to trying one. I think my issue was mainly having to let a stranger in my house AND work on my hair or do my makeup? I haven’t seen their work or don’t know if they are even sane. With so much going on in the world you always have to be aware. So, when I actually started talking with the COLOUR App and its team to learn more about the company and how they do things I decided I’d give it a try. Knowing that the people who are working for the COLOUR App are not only given background checks but they only bring on the best of the best.
One of my friends was getting married on Saturday so I figured what other time to have someone do your hair than for a wedding. I could of wanded my hair myself like I usually do but number 1 I was tired and number 2 I didn’t feel like dealing with doing my hair all day. So COLOUR came to the rescue. My stylist showed up on time and she was super sweet. I showed her a picture of the type of curls I wanted to achieve and we went from there. I’d definitely try this experience again especially with the busy schedule that I have it’s nice to be pampered in the comfort of your own home.
