Having a mentor is one of the most beneficial resources you can have when you run a business. No matter if you’re on the financial or entrepreneurial journey, having a successful boss that’s already been in your shoes makes your entire process that much easier and makes you that much closer to becoming the successful entrepreneur of your dreams.
We all want to skip the unnecessary steps and fumbles and go straight to what’s proven to work. Am I right? It’s also so much easier to relate to a successful boss ladies when you are also a female entrepreneur yourself.
If you don’t have tons of money to dish out for 1:1 coaching or aren’t in the same city as your dream mentor and coach, try to listen to podcasts of successful businesses in your space. Podcasts feature the perfect way for busy entrepreneurs to multitask and learn new business strategies from award-winning hosts. I’ve learned so many things about social media, how to structure my business, and more just from a few of the gems, they chat about.
Here are my top 5 best female podcasts that all business owners should listen to for inspiration, motivation, and teachings.
Best Female Business Podcasts
Jenna Kutcher The Goal Digger
Let’s start the list off with the girl boss Jenna! Her podcast is the perfect live-workshop style business series for creative businesses and girl bosses looking to get trained by successful entrepreneur experts on how to dig in, do the work, and tackle your biggest hurdles and goals along the way.
If you’ve ever bit off more than you could chew or had a change of heart once getting started you should listen to the “What Happens When Your Dream Job Isn’t Dreamy?” episode.
Not only does the episode go into the depth about meeting impossible standards but they also touch on shifting your mindset and ideals.
Life with Marianna Podcast
My next favorite girl boss radio is the Life with Marianna Podcast. Every Tuesday she chats with her HUGE network of friends. Guests typically range from fellow influencers, brand founders, entrepreneurs, and wellness experts to help YOU live your best life.
Some months we’re knocking out our goals with ease while others we’re lost in the forest. In the episode “Goal Setting and How To Make a Vision Board” Marianna walks us through the ins and outs of how she envisioned her business, sets goals, and makes them happen.
Sometimes we all need to work a little and play a little. Ya know – keep things fun! Jaclyn Johnson, CEO of Create & Cultivate and author of WorkParty™ brings just that. Every week she breaks down the business of being a modern working woman by tackling topics from negotiation, to honing your pitch, to creating that killer tagline.
My favorite episode is S8. E. 16 The Three C’s: How Tika Sumpter and Thai Randolph Are Using Content, Commerce, and Community to Create a Destination For Moms of Color. Trust me on this one!
Not only was this podcast informative but it also showed me that I’m not alone in this journey. We all struggle with one thing or another so it’s inspiring to hear that you’re in with a group of phenomenal women!
Friend of a Friend
The Friend of a Friend Podcast introduces you to the next generation of women taking the lead. Olivia Perez does an amazing job of taking you inside the minds of today’s up-and-comers and game changers – from brand builders to personalities, activists, artists, and thought leaders from around the world – to hear their experiences, advice, and the real story behind their success.
With the heightened exposure social media brings to justice reform – it can sometimes be difficult to navigate through trying times and that’s when we all need a friend. Finding Your Voice Through Activism With Janaya Future Khan is the perfect episode that touches on being okay (and encouraging) you to use your platform and voice to speak up on topics that truly matter to you.
Side Hustle Pro
And the last (but certainly not least) podcast in my top 5 is Side Hustle Pro. Nicaila is a Jamaican-born, Bronx-bred marketer and side hustler turned full-time podcaster and entrepreneur. Side Hustle Pro is the first and only podcast to spotlight bold, black women entrepreneurs who have scaled from side hustle to profitable business.
Failure is inevitable. At least once everyone is going to bomb something in their business. Luckily, how you recover is even more important than the fall. In episode 243: Failure of Fashion? How Mikaela Pabon’s Setback Propelled, Mikaela, founder of athleisure brand Dress in Joy, walks you through the ups and downs of her business. Again, we’re not alone in anything we do although at times it may seem like it.
Of course, the listening party doesn’t stop there. There are tons of other podcast hosts like Farnoosh Torabi, Jodi Flynn, and Sophia Amoruso who are such an inspiration to small businesses and women entrepreneurs.
