Family-Friendly Fall Activities Do In Atlanta

Summer is coming to an end, and the coziest season of the year is right around the corner. This means it’s time to start planning family-friendly fall activities. With the heat subsiding, a comfortable breeze settling in, and the leaves changing colors, there are plenty of family-friendly things to do around Atlanta to keep your family connected, active, and entertained this fall!

Apple Picking

What’s better than getting out in the fresh air to pick apples, going for a wagon ride, shop local farmer’s markets, and petting small farm animals? 

Visit one of these apple orchards for a day of simple fall fun! Be sure to check their website for COVID requirements and other restrictions. 

B.J. Reece Orchard 

With acres upon acres of farmland to enjoy, B.J. Reece Orchard in North Georgia is a fun and safe place to socially distance while enjoying fall farm living. Open for u-picking, visit B.J. Reece Orchard until October 31st for apple picking, a shopping market, a bakery, and a petting zoo for your little ones.

Hillcrest Orchard 

Another place we had to add to our family-friendly fall activities is the orchard in North Georgia, Hillcrest Orchard. It welcomes families for a day of u-picking until October 31st! With a farmer’s market, wagon rides, corn mazes, and more, there is something for everyone at Hillcrest. 

Mercier Orchard 

Located in North Georgia, this 4th generation family-owned orchard offers apple picking, a bakery, cider, a winery, and fishing; there’s plenty to do and see at Mercier Orchard! 

Pumpkin Patch

Nothing says fall like pumpkin;  pumpkin spice, pumpkin candles, jack-o-lanterns, and pumpkin patches! You won’t have to travel far to pick the perfect pumpkin for the season, along with hayrides, kid-friendly activities, and delicious fall food! 

Not only can you pick out the best pumpkin in the patch, visit The Rock Ranch on November 3rd for National Pumpkin Destruction Day to smash a few pumpkins, pumpkin bowling, and a 40-foot crane pumpkin drop. 

Hike Among the Fall Foliage

Does your family enjoy the great outdoors? There are plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls, and family-friendly trails to explore close to Atlanta that are lush with fall foliage.

Visit Glover Park on October 23rd for the Trick or Treat Trot Family Festival, Boo at Zoo Atlanta in late October, or Howl on the Green on October 29th for family-friendly Halloween fun!
