5 Items You Should Pack in Your Child’s Carry-On

Preparing for a flight with a child can be a difficult task. There are just so many things to remember! To help you out, here are 5 items you should pack in your child’s carry-on bag.

5 Items You Should Pack in Your Child’s Carry-On

A tasty snack can entertain a child for a surprising amount of time. Plus, it’ll keep them nice and full, so they won’t be hungry for hours on end. When packing your child’s carry-on bag, try to include a variety of your little one’s favorite snacks for them to choose from.

Comfort Item

Many children have a difficult time falling asleep without a comfort item, whether that is a blanket or a stuffed animal. Don’t forget to pack this necessary item in case your child wants to take a nap on the plane!

An Extra Set of Clothes

Toddlers are a messy bunch and adding flight turbulence to the mix can make the messiness even worse. To prepare for the messiest mess, pack an extra set of clothes for your little ones to change into.

An Empty Sippy Cup

When the flight attendant comes around offering drinks, it can be a little bit nerve-wracking. They’ll hand your little one a plastic cup filled with juice that sloshes around and inevitably makes a mess. Instead, when you pack an empty sippy cup, flight attendants will fill it up for you! Then you don’t have to worry about your child’s drink spilling.

Each child is different, so the form of entertainment that will work best for each child will also be different. If your child loves to color, pack a coloring book and a small box of crayons. If your little one’s favorite activity is reading, borrow a couple of library books and bring them along. Or if your kid is into cars, stuff a handful of them into his or her carry-on bag.

As a backup, consider packing some form of electronics for entertainment. While this isn’t usually a parent’s first choice, an iPad or iPhone that can keep your little one occupied for a couple of hours on an airplane can be very helpful.
