Happy Fall! This is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. Cooler temps, fall clothing, scented candles, the list goes on the amazing things this season brings. Plus, if you’re in Atlanta or visiting, there’s definitely not a shortage of events going on. Check out what’s happening this month!

October 1 – 2, 2016: Sweet Auburn Music Festival

Two days of nonstop music and a ton of fun! 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. the Sweet Auburn Music Festival, gives you the opportunity to enjoy the perfect blend of music, people, food and culture. The event is free and will have a ton of kids activities, food trucks, a car and bike show.

October 1 – 2, 2016: Candler Park Fall Festival

Known as one of Atlanta’s “favorite fall festival,” this year will mark the 16th anniversary of the Candler Park Fall Fest. The celebration of music, art and family will kick off with a 5K race and tour of homes, leading into evenings of hot air balloon rides and art exhibitions. The event is free.

October 1 – 30, 2016: Stone Mountain Pumpkin Festival

Stone Mountain’s annual Pumpkin Festival has become a family favorite with kids and parents, alike. The  Friday through Sunday.

October 6 – 15, 2016: Atlanta Black Theatre Festival

“40 Plays in 4 Days,” the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival (ABTF) is a celebration of cultural diversity and world-class entertainment. There will be 290 artists presenting 63 events over the course of the ABTF; ticket prices vary depending on the show — and some events are even free.

October 8, 2016: Great Atlanta Beerfest

If you love beer? This is the event for you. The Great Atlanta Beerfest, is held at Turner Field on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. From a list of over 150 beers from Atlanta and the Southeast, there’s a “healthy” list of wines and ciders. Tickets are $40 in advance; $45 after September 29, 2016; $55 the day of the event.

October 8, 2016: Atlanta Mac & Cheese Festival

A festival full of Mac & Cheese? Count me in! The first annual Atlanta Mac & Cheese Festival is being held at Walker Park from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the festival will feature 20-30 vendors and is set to become an annual tradition in support of Neighbor in Need. General admission is $20 and includes five mac ‘n’ cheese samples.

October 13 – 21, 2016: ELEVATE: Microcosm

The sixth iteration of the arts festival, ELEVATE: Microcosm unlocks the stigma and issues we share among each other through public expressions of art, dialog and performance. The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs once again hosts the regular ELEVATE series. Microcosm focuses on bringing public art to the downtown area and will include works by Yoyo FerroBosco, and Pedro

October 15, 2016: Run Like Hell

Run Like Hell through Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery for their annual 5K. Run Like Hell is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier and covers several areas of Oakland Cemetery, including the Grant Park neighborhood. All proceeds benefit the Historic Oakland Foundation.

October 15, 2016: Decatur Craft Beer Festival

Enjoy an evening of beer tasting on the square of Downtown Decatur.  Guests must be 21 and older to enter the alcohol-friendly festival. General admission is $45 and includes a special tasting glass with unlimited sips from more than 80 breweries. Go VIP for $90 for the ultimate beer-tasting experience, including special reserved beers and complimentary snacks.

October 15, 2016: Little Five Points Halloween Festival and Parade

Little Five Points is having its annual Halloween festival and parade. The parade begins at 4 p.m., starting at Austin and Euclid and ending on Moreland Avenue. If you need a costume, visit one of Little Five’s thrift shops for cool ideas!

October 15 – 16, 2016: Fall Festival on Ponce

The Fall Festival on Ponce is an Atlanta arts and crafts festival in historic Olmsted Linear Park. Enjoy the gorgeous landscape designed by one of America’s most celebrated landscape architects, Fredrick Olmsted Sr., alongside more than 125 displays of fine arts and crafts. Attendance is free for both Saturday, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

October 15 – 17: Face & Body Southeast

Face & Body Southeast kicks off its first year in Atlanta as an event held exclusively for skin care, spa and wellness professionals. This event is being held at the Cobb Galleria Centre and ticket prices vary.

October 21 – 23, 2016: Taste of Atlanta

The 15th year of Taste of Atlanta! This year, more than 90 delicious local spots will serve wonderful bites and some of the best local chefs in the city on four live demo stages. Tickets are $25 for either Saturday or Sunday, if you purchase before October 7 and VIP passes are available at an additional cost

October 22 – 23, 2016: Boo at the Zoo

Costume contests, inflatable corn maze, live music, arts & crafts and more at Boo at the Zoo. Members can attend for free. Not a member? No problem. General admission to the zoo includes access to this event.

October 29, 2016: A Nightmare on Peachtree Street

Atlanta’s biggest Halloween bash,  ‘A Nightmare on Peachtree Street‘ is back! Presented by Atlanta Nightlife, Nightmare on Peachtree Street will be held at 200 Peachtree Event Center.  The celebration will include five DJs, three areas to mingle, two rooms of music and a $1,000 costume contest. Tickets are $20 and VIP for $55 (includes open bar).

October 30, 2016: The Phantoms of the Orchestra

The Phantoms of the Orchestra is a must see for the halloween season! The Magic Circle Mime Company and audience members of all ages are invited to dress in costume and hear music from Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.
